Poems from ALL ABOUT ME Workshop

at the

West Falmouth Library, December 5th!

Happiness,

Fireflies

That dance

In me,

a Milky Way

of joy.

Sadness

Not thorn

nor rose.

Alone in

Darkness

rivers of

Tears.

 Me

Constellations

Of memories

Of feelings

Of life.

Rada, 4th grade

When someone deeply Listens to me, I feel-

like a rocket blazing through the sky.

happy like when I go camping.

free like I am flying over the clouds.

like twirling around like popcorn.

like a flower blooming.

lucky like when a ladybug lands on your arm.

like a never-ending rainbow.

Free like a fish in the ocean.

like an elephant with giant ears

happy like I ate a whole bag of candy.

like we are all on a team.

Lines from 1st and 2nd grade group poems

Heath School Brookline, Ma

Ailyn’s poem Generated at the Bacon Free Library Author event

When my mom calls me dear,

I know she means it sincere.

When I say it back, I hope

she knows that I love her so!

When I feel this happy feeling, I

hope it never goes!

Poems from I Am Workshop West Falmouth Library

Blue is an ocean under the bright morning sun.

Red is love that spreads so wide.

Purple is a raindrop landing in a flower.

Yellow is a bounce of lightening.

Green is the tree that blossoms outside.

Magenta is the path to hope and love.

Orange is like a tiger in the jungle, ready to pounce.

Brown is chocolate, sweet and tasty.

Black is as beautiful as Batman, swinging through the night sky.

Leigha, age 10

Blue makes me feel like the calm sky.

Red makes me feel like a devil.

Purple makes me feel free like a bird.

Yellow makes me feel like happiness.

Green makes me feel calm like the grass.

Magenta makes me feel small like a dot.

Orange makes me feel sweet liike the fruit.

Brown makes me feel sad like a stump.

Black makes me like evil.

Reece, 3rd grade

Blue makes me feel as happy as a bluebird.

Red makes me feel as happy as a red tree in fall.

Purple makes me feel as happy as a purple butterfly.

Yellow makes me feel as happy as the sun.

Green makes me feel as happy as a flying leaf.

Pink makes me feel as happy as a pink bird.

Orange makes me feel as happy as an orange sunset.

Brown makes me feel as happy as brown happiness.

Black makes me feel as happy as a black flying fish.

When Someone Deeply Listens to Me

When someone deeply listens to me, I feel important like my softball team just won first place.

I feel loved, like when my parents kiss me goodnight.

I feel amazing, like fireworks bursting on the Fourth of July, lighting up the dark sky!

When someone deeply listens to me,

I know they care, like when an old friend who lives far away remembers to send me a birthday card.

Someone who deeply listens, is somebody you can tell anything, someone you can trust, someone who makes you feel like anything is possible.

Angelina, age 10

When Someone Deeply Listens to me,

it makes me feel as happy as when I have

a play date with my best friend.

When my teacher calls on me and everyone listens to me,

I feel warm and special like a shooting star.

I feel like I just ate my favorite vanilla ice cream and want to do cartwheels all around.

Chloe, age 6

When someone deeply listens to me
they know what I am talking about.
It makes me feel special like a star on a stage.

When someone deeply listens to me,
I get a lot of attention like I’m a
birthday girl blowing out the candles.

When my friends deeply listen to me,
I want to spend time with them.

When people deeply listen to me,
I feel they are interested in what I have to say,
like when a dog hears he’s going to a dog park.

When people deeply listen to me,
I feel what I have to say is really important,
like when the president gives a speech.

When someone deeply listens to me,
I am proud, like when I passed a math test.

When someone deeply listens to me,
I feel energetic, like I want to run the Boston Marathon.

Ellie, age 8

When Someone Deeply Listens to Me

It’s like everything around us disappears.

and we are in our own world

with no one else around us.

I feel they are like a sponge

soaking in what I am saying.

It’s as if they’re hanging on my every word

like my words are a cliff.

Kylie, age 10

Feel Me

I need to feel heard and understood deep in my soul and at my core.

Being closely looked at and cared for and cherished is the feeling I crave and how I feel when someone deeply listens to me.

The soul to soul conversation and connection is water to my thirsty heart.

When Someone Deeply Listens it is an inherent understanding and agreement of values and goals...hearts and minds meeting and agreeing.

A vigorous nodding of the head....smiles and mutual laughter heightens the closeness.

Listen, really listen and hear me, understand me, feel me.

 Please.
