When Someone Deeply Listens to You

How do you feel When Someone Deeply Listens to You?

Courageous, empowered, loved? Fall in love with our adorable children as they explore, through vibrant language and imagery, what this means to them.

When Someone Deeply Listens to You is the culmination of Marcie’s certification in poetic medicine. Marcie carries her skill and enthusiastic style into poetry circles she designs, to meet the needs of numerous populations. These include children, educators, diversely abled adults, parents, and seniors.

Parenting with Awareness evolved from Marcie’s experiences in teaching hundreds of parents and children in the Marcie and Me parent child program she created. The book offers a unique parenting philosophy that honors the integrity of childhood, with the goal to create children who are self-empowered, self-disciplined, and self-motivated.

Because children learn through experimentation, both books contain creative hand on activities and guided conversations to teach their vital message.

What is poetic medicine?

Poetic medicine is using poetry to connect individuals, who may feel alone in their life experience. It’s using poetry to identify and express deep held emotions. Writing poetry provides a space for one’s voice to be heard, to release feelings out from the body and onto the page, providing an opportunity for cathartic healing. Marcie, certified in poetic medicine, carries her skill and enthusiastic style to poetry circles designed to meet the needs of numerous populations to include children, diversely abled adults, new moms, and seniors.

Marcie has been enchanting young children and educating their parents for the past 40 years. She attended Clark University, earning degrees in special education and psychology, and went on to pursue her graduate studies in early childhood education at Tufts University and Wheelock College.

As a serial entrepreneur, Marcie was blessed to blend her passions and teaching talent to create Gymnax, a gymnastic school, The Enrichment Center for Children, a licensed daycare and preschool, The Playhouse, in indoor discovery museum and for the past 20 years, the Marcie and Me parent child play program. Marcie also established the Marcie and Me Cares not for profit, which delivered the Marcie and Me Play kit to Boston hospitals so children could enjoy her original music and interactive activities from their hospital beds.

Marcie lives with her husband in Massachusetts. When she isn’t writing you can find her doing Numerology readings, photographing the treasures of Cape Cod or riding her bike along the bike path over the Sippewissett marsh in Falmouth, Ma.  She is the proud mother of two sons and three stepchildren. She is adoring her role as “Mimi” with her grandchildren.

Marcie is available to organize a poetry circle for your school or organization or to speak about her unique parenting philosophy.
